Henry Clay's response after being warned that his strong views on controversial subjects like slavery and the American System would hurt his bid for the Presidency:
"I'd rather be right than be President."
-Henry Clay (1777-1852)

The count is final: Stevens lost his reelection bid. America mourns the loss of our great Senator.
The tubes will have revenge.

I'd like to make a correction: Stevens has not yet won Alaska. Apparently, not all of the ballots were counted on election day, and the election results are still unclear. Currently Stevens' Democratic opponent, who will remain unnamed, is ahead by nearly 1,000 votes. This is likely to change in the coming days.
C'mon, Stevens, keep our tubes clean!

Although it pains me to relive Palin's loss, one good thing did come out of Alaska this election. Ted Stevens, convicted felon and incumbent, won his reelection campaign for Senate!
Recall, during a 2006 debate regarding net neutrality, Stevens referred to the internet as "a series of tubes." His infamous analogy has since then become the victim of propaganda on youtube, ytmnd, and even wikipedia.
It's good to know that 51% of Alaskans can see through the phony felony charges. We will appeal and the truth shall be revealed!
With that, I'd like to conclude Thenr.net's 2008 election coverage. If you want to revisit the special "v.08" banner, you can do so at this link.

This month's quote is from Nixon's address to the nation, delivered on November 3rd, 1969, regarding the Vietnam War. The speech is popularly titled "The Silent Majority."
"Let us be united for peace. Let us also be united against defeat. Because let us understand--North Vietnam cannot defeat or humiliate the United States. Only Americans can do that."
-President Richard Nixon (1913-1994)
Enjoy Halloween.
